Fukuoka's beloved tonkatsu specialist serves its signature 'white tonkatsu' with uniquely crisp, pale batter inside Omotesando Hills.
Tonkatsu Wakaba is a celebrated tonkatsu restaurant that originated in Fukuoka, where it has built a reputation for long queues and exceptional fried pork cutlets. The Omotesando Hills branch, which opened in August 2025 as the brand's second Kanto location, brings Fukuoka's finest to Tokyo with the original founder's head chef overseeing the kitchen directly. What sets Wakaba apart is its distinctive 'white tonkatsu' — the pork is fried at a low temperature, producing a remarkably light, pale and shatteringly crisp batter that looks and tastes quite unlike conventional tonkatsu. Only carefully selected domestic branded pork is used, resulting in tender, juicy meat beneath the delicate coating.
The restaurant is on the third floor of Omotesando Hills, within easy reach of both Omotesando and Meiji-Jingumae stations. Lunch is typically priced between 1,000 and 2,000 yen, with dinner ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 yen, making it an accessible treat for anyone exploring the Omotesando-Harajuku area.
